The short version
- No account. You don't sign up. We don't know who you are.
- On your device. Your diet plans, body measurements and profile are stored locally on your phone — not on our servers.
- No tracking. No analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers.
- AI is opt-in. Scanning a plan or using the coach sends text to the AI provider you configure, using your own key. We don't operate that server or keep your requests.
Data we handle
NutriHelp (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a personal nutrition app that helps you digitize and follow a diet plan provided by your nutritionist or dietitian. We have designed it to function without collecting personal data on our own servers.
The information you put into the app may include:
- Diet plans — meals, foods, quantities and substitutions imported from your nutritionist's printed plan or entered manually.
- Body measurements — such as weight, body measurements and other figures you record, with their dates.
- Profile details — optional information like age, sex, height, allergies and goals that you choose to enter.
- Medications & reminders — medication names and schedules you set up for local reminders.
- App settings — preferences such as language, meal-time windows and your chosen AI configuration.
Some of this is health-related information. Because it is sensitive, we keep it on your device and never collect it ourselves.
Where your data is stored
All of the information above is stored locally on your device in the app's private storage. NutriHelp does not operate an account system, user database, or cloud backup, and we do not receive, see, or store a copy of your data.
Because the data lives on your device, it is included in your phone's own device backups (for example iCloud or Google backup) if you have those enabled — that is controlled by your operating system and your settings, not by us. If you delete the app, its locally stored data is removed by the operating system.
AI-powered features
Some optional features use an AI model: reading a printed plan or a measurement sheet (a vision model), the chat coach, macro estimation, and grocery-list consolidation. These features only run when you actively trigger them.
When you do, NutriHelp sends the necessary content — for example the page image you are scanning, or the relevant parts of your plan and profile for a coach question — to the AI provider you have configured in Settings. You choose that provider, which may be:
- A local model running on your own computer or network (e.g. LM Studio), so the data never leaves your control; or
- A third-party provider you connect with your own API key (e.g. OpenAI or Google Gemini).
If you use a third-party provider, the content you submit is processed under that provider's privacy policy and terms, not ours. NutriHelp does not run its own AI servers, does not act as an intermediary for these requests, and does not retain copies of your prompts or responses beyond saving the result back to your device. We recommend reviewing the policy of any provider whose key you add.
You are responsible for the API key and provider you choose to connect, and for any costs or terms associated with that provider.
Device permissions
The app asks for permissions only when a feature needs them, and uses them only for that purpose:
- Camera — to photograph a printed diet plan or measurement sheet so it can be read into the app.
- Photo library — to import existing photos or PDFs of your plan.
- Notifications — to deliver the local medication and meal reminders you set up. These are scheduled on your device.
You can grant or revoke any of these at any time in your device settings. Denying a permission only disables the related feature.
Sharing & third parties
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information. We do not use advertising networks or third-party analytics or tracking SDKs in the app.
Data leaves your device only in two cases, both initiated by you:
- When you use an AI feature with a third-party provider you configured (see Section 3); or
- When you export a plan as a
.dietfile and share it through your operating system's share sheet (AirDrop, email, messaging, Files). You control who receives it.
Your control & rights
Because your data lives on your device and not with us, you have direct control over it: you can view, edit, or delete any plan, measurement, medication, or profile detail inside the app, and you can remove everything by deleting the app.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or similar laws), you may have rights to access, correct, or erase personal data and to object to certain processing. Since we do not hold your data on our servers, the most direct way to exercise these rights is within the app itself. If you have questions, contact us using the details below.
Children's privacy
NutriHelp is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age required for consent in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect data from children. As the app stores data locally and has no account, parents or guardians control the device and its content.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves — for example if we add an optional cloud-backed feature in the future. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and material changes will be reflected here. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Terms of Use
By downloading or using NutriHelp, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the app.
Not medical advice
NutriHelp is a tool to help you organize and follow a diet plan created by a qualified professional, and to ask general questions about it. It does not provide medical, nutritional, or health advice and is not a substitute for consultation with your doctor, nutritionist, or dietitian. Always follow the guidance of your own qualified practitioner, and seek professional help for any medical concern. Any AI-generated content may be inaccurate and should be treated as informational only.
Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the plans, measurements, and information you enter or import, including reviewing AI-drafted imports before relying on them.
- You are responsible for any third-party AI provider and API key you connect, including its terms and any usage costs.
- You agree to use the app lawfully and not to misuse, reverse-engineer, or disrupt it.
License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control, for your personal use, subject to these terms and the applicable app store's terms.
“As is” & liability
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI outputs will be accurate. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any health outcome, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Governing terms of the stores
If you obtained the app through the Apple App Store or Google Play, your use is also subject to that store's terms, and those terms govern in case of conflict regarding distribution.
